Occupations have been in Haz-Map since it was first published in 2000. Occupations were added to IDdx in 2012. There are 77 jobs in 15 categories. It is a good idea to look at the categories and see which jobs are included. For example, note that “Veterinarians” is in the “Health” category. Each job is linked to diseases through an intermediate table in the database.

This table is “High-Risk Job Tasks.” When your query includes an occupation, then the results are sorted by job tasks that may be perfomed by the worker. (Your results will be displayed first as all matching diseases and then as all matching diseases sorted by category.) For a summary of how jobs relate to infectious diseases through job tasks, see these two pages on my Haz-Map website: Occupational Infections and Skin Infections.
